    Lowes Island Summer Ends with a Circus!

    Village Green Day School at Lowes Island finished up Summer Camp with a huge Circus Celebration, complete with a Circus-themed musical performed by the Upper Campers. This week concluded a fantastic Summer Camp where themes of Winter in Summer, Harry Potter Science, Where the Wild Things Are, Skateboarding and American Girl were among the favorites.     Lowes Island School Celebrates Spirit Week

    This week VGDS at Lowes Island is winding down our school year by celebrating Spirit Week. On Tuesday, the students all wore their red VGDS T-Shirts. On Wednesday we saw lots of wacky hats, crazy hair-do's, inside-out clothes, and mismatched shoes and socks on our Wacky-Tacky Day. Thursday will bring Princesses and Super Heros to our classrooms. And on Friday we will enjoy some field day activities while wearing our favorite Sports Jerseys. Click on the title to see some photos.

A Letter from our Head of School


Thank you for your interest in Village Green Day School at Lowes Island!  I am thrilled that my journey through life has led me to be the Head of School at Village Green. My career in education began when I became a high school biology teacher.  I taught for thirteen years and ended my high school teaching career as the Head of the Science Department. I decided to shift gears when I had my own children to become an early childhood administrator so that I could remain near my children during their youth. 

So, as a mom, I know firsthand the importance of finding a school that is a good fit for your family. When I joined the Village Green staff, my children were immediately embraced by the loving staff. As a Village Green parent myself, it is my goal to do everything I can to continue to provide a warm and safe environment within which our children can reach their learning potential. Village Green is truly a school Where Learning Feels Like Family.

The professional staff at Village Green Day School at Lowes Island provides a safe, nurturing environment that encourages academic growth and development. Through the implementation of the Core Knowledge Curriculum in our traditional preschool program and didactic materials in our Montessori classroom, our teachers promote learning using a variety of stimulating experiences.   Planned enrichment activities in our Child Care (CC) and School Age Child Care (SACC) programs encourage children to develop new interests. Small class sizes allow our teachers to give appropriate attention to each individual child. The Village Green teachers utilize our three acre campus to incorporate play and outdoor experiences into their lessons.  And, our Character Connection program will teach your child how to make good, respectful choices on their path to becoming a responsible citizen.

The teachers and administrators at Village Green look forward to working with you and your child to enrich their early childhood years.
