In Village Green's Traditional Kindergarten program, students progress at their own speed with individual
attention from highly trained teachers. Each child moves onto the next educational level when he or
she is ready. The highly academic program includes reading, language, mathematics, social studies,
geography, French, computers, music and drama. It is coordinated with the standards of Learning
(SOL) as mandated by the State of Virginia in both Fairfax and Loudoun Counties.
Our Traditional Kindergarten full-day program and low teacher/pupil ratio allow our students to
receive a great deal of individual attention. Children must be 5 years old by September 30 to apply.
Children accepted to our Traditional Kindergarten program must meet the following mandatory criteria:
- Submit previous school’s teacher recommendation and other available school assessments.
- Participate in a screening process.
- Classroom visit.
- Head of School approval.
For the child who is not yet developmentally ready for our academic Traditional Kindergarten program,
we offer a half-day Junior Kindergarten program. Children must be four years, nine months by September 30th
to apply.
These programs also introduce reading, language, mathematics, social studies, geography, computers and
music. However, the students move on a more abstract, individualized level as their skills develop.
