Welcome

A Letter from our Head of School

You will receive a warm welcome at Great Falls Village Green Day School. My family became part of this family when I came to Village Green in 2001. I taught three and four year olds and my youngest son was in the School Age Child Care on Mondays so I could attend staff meetings. He is a senior in High School now and still shares his fond memories of playing on our playgrounds and hanging upside down with his friends on the monkey bars. In 2004 I became Assistant Head before leaving to take on a headship elsewhere. Then in 2008, I returned to Village Green and joined the leadership team.

Learning, and loving it, happens in a safe and comfortable place where a rich and engaging curriculum is skillfully implemented with methods born from a deep understanding and respect for how children learn. The Core Knowledge curriculum, together with the Letterland and Handwriting Without Tears programs, provide a solid framework that ensures the children develop and practice the skills necessary for their continued growth. In addition, we provide exposure to knowledge, through rich, intentional experiences in math, science, social studies, art, music and more, which inspire our children to love to learn. We teach the skills that provide the children the tools they need to be able to successfully demonstrate what they have learned. Village Green’s commitment to providing support for students with challenges through our Team Plans (Individual Educational Plans) is remarkable and truly unique in the area of private, mainstream, preschool education. Teachers today have to be able to recognize and honor the differences in our children and adapt and accommodate to individual learning styles, strengths, weaknesses and types of intelligences.

The love, care and dedication of everyone at Village Green is palpable and instrumental to the warmth a person feels from the moment he/she sets foot inside the doors. We have wonderful, professional, dedicated and caring team of teachers and administrators who make it their business to ensure that the children are taken care of, educated, inspired and encouraged to develop their full potential.

Driven by our Vision and Mission we strive to provide a rich learning environment for everyone. As Head of School, I recognize and welcome the challenges that come with our continued commitment to excellence and growth.   I honor the fact that teachers who are inspired to teach, in turn, inspire their students not just to learn but also to love doing it. As a teacher myself, I will be in the classrooms on a regular basis enjoying the best part of this job…being with the children where it all happens! This classroom connection is an essential experience that I draw upon in the day-to-day decision-making and management of the school. I start each day by affirming my commitment to doing what is best for the children.

Everyone at Village Green Day School looks forward to working with you and your child and will do all that we can to ensure that your child is learning and loving it in this place ‘where learning feels like family’.

Sincerely,

Carly Guy
