In 1972, Lynne Simmons co-founded the Center for Early Education (CEE School), the predecessor to Village Green Day School, in the Sugarland Run area of Northern Virginia.
This school maintained an excellent reputation for many years, until it had to close due to the lack of sufficient rental space to accommodate its expanding program.
Lynne and Larry Simmons opened the Great Falls Village Green Day School in 1979 in the Village Center in Great Falls, VA. Due to increasing enrollment, the Great Falls School moved to its present, larger facility in 1985 which occupies over four acres and accommodates 250 students. The year 2000 brought a total remodeling of the Great Falls School, with a 6,000 square foot addition, and a new state-of-the-art playground.
After years of watching the rapid population growth of eastern Loudoun County and the resulting family communities that were born, the Simmons came to an agreement with the developer of the Cascades project that identified Village Green Day School as a proposed preschool/kindergarten and child care provider. Village Green Day School at Lowes Island opened for business in June of 1997 in Potomac Falls, VA.
In 2008, Ian Simmons, the son of Lynne and Larry Simmons was appointed Vice President of Village Green. Both Lynne Simmons and Ian Simmons continue to have an active role in the leadership of the School.
The future of Village Green Day School is bright. We continue to add new programs as we strive to better serve our community. Experienced leadership enables the School to continue to grow with the times, always remaining on the cutting edge of the latest educational initiatives.
